Anyone sensing God’s call to draw closer, amidst the rising darkness, knows there is a desperate need for a much greater understanding of His exhortation to WALK BY FAITH AND NOT BY SIGHT.
True to His promise of being our Good Shepherd whose sheep hear His voice, the LORD led me to reach out to a dear couple named Israel and Grace. Observing their comments on a mutual message group, I’d been noticing their stories of being led moment by moment by the Holy Spirit, and God showing up in miraculous ways. I sensed the LORD saying, “Ask them to share what they feel led to about walking by faith,” so I did.
Israel is busy making disciples in Nicaragua, so Grace set up a phone call with me the next day (December 11, 2020). The following is the rich treasure of wisdom she shared. I believe it will be of much benefit to the Body of Christ for such a time as this. I pray everyone who reads it will be blessed and strengthened by the Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ, for the glory of God the Father.

“The one person I knew I always had behind me was my Dad. He was a ‘faith guy’ who sought to really KNOW GOD,” Grace shared. Her father walked very closely with the LORD, experiencing His power and presence in such a way that it inspired her to pursue God deeply as well. At a very low point in her life, she sensed the LORD telling her to just GET STILL and SEEK HIM ALONE. She obeyed His call. After about a month, He told her something that would change her life….
“THE LIFE OF FAITH – IS ME – PLUS NOTHING.”
The first step, Grace realized, was to not seek doctors or medicine for anything. She told the LORD, “If I’m going to do this, I don’t want to take baby steps, but quantum leaps! And I know this is not just about me. You do such a work in my life, LORD, that others SEE and KNOW that YOU’RE ENOUGH!”
Once this decision was made, she consistently felt sick. Several times, she thought she could die, BUT THE LORD BROUGHT HER THROUGH EVERY TIME. One time, she even felt as though her spirit was leaving her body, but she sensed God saying, “BELIEVE – GET UP – AND MOVE.” She obeyed, and once she did, strength started to flood back into her body. He then told her, “MY LOVE WILL NOT FAIL TO BRING YOU THROUGH.”
Grace was single at that time. She’d tried dating and hated it, so she told the LORD, “I hate dating, so if I marry, it’s going to have to be to my best friend. And he’s going to have to be stronger in ‘YOU PLUS NOTHING’ than I am!” Israel was God’s chosen one for her and her for him, perfectly suited for TRUSTING GOD ALONE with and for EVERYTHING together.
Israel and Grace were told they could not have children, but they TRUSTED GOD, and soon were expecting a son. Along the way, Grace started having preterm labor. The LORD then gave her a vision of a cream-colored balloon tied tightly at the bottom. As cramps and contractions would come, she would remember that balloon, and thank God that her cervix couldn’t open. God sustained her pregnancy all the way to full-term. When the time came to give birth, Grace’s cervix still didn’t want to open. They were amused at God’s sense of humor. He ministered to their hearts once again, “IS ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR ME?”
Their son was in the wrong position for birth, so the midwife had to turn him which was excruciating for Grace. There was also meconium in the amniotic fluid, and the midwife was starting to be quite alarmed. “You need to get him out with this next push, or else we’re going to have to cut you.” Israel prayed and Grace pushed. Their son came out. He was blue. The midwife yelled, “Pray for your son!” With resolve, Israel put his hand on him and stated, “IN JESUS’ NAME, YOU’RE FINE.” The baby started to cry. He was fine. All glory to God!
We are sometimes hindered by our past, or by things we have been taught. Grace shared how she wishes she’d just DARED TO BELIEVE GOD earlier in life. When she did hand everything over to the LORD, she remembers Him telling her, “I’M JUST ASKING YOU TO TRUST ME AT THIS POINT, AND TAKE ALL YOUR HISTORY AND PUT IT IN THE CLOSET AND SHELVE IT. LET IT GO, TO ME.”
“When we need to be SAVED, HEALED or DELIVERED from something, it shouldn’t be, ‘GOD, DO SOMETHING,’ because HIS DOING has ALREADY BEEN DONE at the cross,” Grace shared. “God is not a passive father. Psalm 50:1,3 state, ‘THE MIGHTY ONE, GOD THE LORD, HAS SPOKEN AND CALLED… OUR GOD SHALL COME AND SHALL NOT KEEP SILENT.’ The WORD comes. It’s not a DO, but a WORD in each situation now. GOD HAS ALREADY DONE.”
“1.) SETTLE IT THAT YOU’RE NOT WAITING FOR GOD TO DO SOMETHING.”
“2.) YOU JUST NEED HIS WORD NOW.”
“Culture is feelings based. Man was first spirit in the Garden, and communed with God that way primarily, naked and unashamed because they WEREN’T CONSCIOUS OF THEMSELVES,” Grace shared. This reminds me of words God put on my heart a while back, “TAKE NO THOUGHT TO SELF.” After the Fall, man’s spirit died, and we thus started looking to physical senses (soul) to learn. When God’s people become born-again through Jesus Christ though, we are raised to new life again in spirit, now in unity with the Holy Spirit. Our physical senses no longer drive us. The Holy Spirit is the One now teaching our soul.
“We can now choose, in RAW, COLD-BLOODED FAITH, to BELIEVE GOD, IGNORING OUR SOUL,” Grace shared excitedly. Psalm 43:5 states, “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God.” We are to HOPE IN THE LORD! FAITH IS NOT A FEELING, but an ACTION!
“The Hebrew language in CONCRETE, but our Greek culture has Hellenized us into abstract thinking. To BELIEVE is NOT simply mental assent, but TO ‘SUPPORT THE REPORT’, Grace explained. “FAITH means TO ACT WITH FIRMNESS TO WHAT YOU BELIEVE. We SHOW BY OUR LIVES WHAT OUR BELIEF IS.”
“When a brother says, ‘I’m hungry,’ your faith LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING.” This means to NOT JUST HEAR, but TO DO. “For example, Abraham took Isaac to the altar and raised the knife. FAITH LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING. Read Hebrews chapter 11. If you say God is your Healer, it’s GOING TO LOOK LIKE SOMETHING.”
Grace said the LORD told her, “You cannot support in others what I’ve torn down in you.” There is a lot of double-mindedness in the church. James 1:6-8 says, “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the LORD; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
The promises of God are now PROVISIONS in the New Covenant. They are ALREADY THERE. Instead of asking God, we can now thank Him for what He’s already done. “LORD, I THANK YOU THAT (Bible verse).” There is power in “It is written….” just like Jesus showed us when tempted by the enemy.
Grace had experience chronic headaches for decades. When she realized God’s promises are now provisions, and that feelings are lies, she simply acknowledged, “NO, WE DON’T DO HEADACHES ANYMORE. HEAD, YOU ARE HEALED.”
The more we simply acknowledge, “IT IS FINISHED,” just as Jesus stated on the cross, the more the victory He won for us becomes concrete. Now, we STAND AND FIGHT FROM THAT PLACE, instead of from a place of defeat and longing. God has already done it all. Now we stand in the victory of His promises which are now provisions.
“Thurman Scrivner says, ‘Your miracle is in your mouth,’” Grace shared. In a message he preached, he stated, “Sin brings forth death. When you read God’s Word, there’s one thing it will do. It will make you repent and obey God and teach your children to walk holy before God too.”
Galatians 2:20 reads, “I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” Now, He lives in me. Now I live by FAITH – HIS FAITH! The same passage in the KJV reads, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live BY THE FAITH OF THE SON OF GOD, Who loved me, and gave Himself for me.”
“I used to panic when faith was demanded,” Grace shared, “I would look at myself and my faith failed. Then I sensed the LORD saying, ‘GET YOUR EYES ON JESUS! HE IS THE AUTHOR AND PERFECTOR OF YOUR FAITH! HE’S YOUR FAITH!’”
“Jennifer Toledo wrote a book called Children and the Supernatural. She sensed God telling her, ‘I WANT YOU TO TEACH THESE CHILDREN THE UNDILUTED GOSPEL.’ Jennifer’s response was, ‘Yes, but I’m from America, LORD….’ Still, she took the children into a hospital and they prayed for every single person there. They saw no immediate results and went home, but along the way one of the children stated, ‘Isn’t it amazing they’re all going to be healed?!’ Soon, they started getting phone calls as each person they’d prayed for got up and left the hospital. They DID NOT LOOK AT THE RESULTS while they were at the hospital. THEY JUST BELIEVED IT WAS DONE!”
“We believe with JESUS’ FAITH, and we thank Him for it! THANK YOU THAT YOUR FAITH IS IN ME, LORD!”
“Just like the ova and sperm come together to create a life, we are born-again by the incorruptible ‘sperma’ – WORD OF GOD. Our FAITH is the ova. ‘Now faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.’ (Hebrews 11:1) SOMETHING IS CREATED when our FAITH MIXES WITH GOD’S WORD, and THAT LIFE WILL GROW AS WE FEED IT.”
“There were two trees in the Garden of Eden. Each had fruit with seeds to produce more after its own kind. One tree/fruit/seed produced life. One tree/fruit/seed produced death. When a difficulty comes along, there is fruit/seeds in it. Which one are we going to “have intercourse” and “be intimate” with? Are we going to JOIN WITH LIFE (SIMPLE FAITH THAT GOD HAS ALREADY ACCOMPLISHED THE VICTORY)? Or are we going to join with DEATH (reminders of people or situations where faith failed)?”
“Different seeds produce different children. If we join our FAITH with GOD’S WORD, it doesn’t matter what the circumstances are because the fruit will be LIFE and GOD’S VICTORY.”
“People of the world bond their faith with a different word.” Grace explains. Human nature is drawn to evidence, and tends to attach itself to what it sees, thinks and feels. God commands and equips us to walk by His Holy Spirit and not our fleshly interpretations any longer though. Dr. Caroline Leaf brings things back into perspective, “God made everything. Science is simply the description (and study) of the ‘everything’ (God made).” We are to CONNECT OURSELVES TO, WORSHIP, AND SERVE THE CREATOR, not what He created.
“People have only been given LOVE or FEAR,” Grace continues. “EVERYTHING ELSE comes from one of these two places. We have permission to ‘crash a wave’ from the place of WHICHEVER ONE WE AGREE WITH. We, as Christ-followers live BY THE SPIRIT, and NOT by our SOUL/thoughts/feelings/sight.”
“Which kind of fruit will you eat and meditate on? Sheep are known for chewing and chewing on what they’re eating before ingesting it. People do the same, meditating on either good or evil. As sheep of the Good Shepherd, we are to feed ONLY on what HE feeds us. We are to SPEAK and PRAY HIS LIFE and VICTORY back to us. If fear is there, DON’T OPEN YOUR MOUTH. WAIT and FIND YOUR LANGUAGE IN THE WORD OF GOD. GET AMMUNITION TO PRAY BACK TO HIM. THIS IS OUR GIFT TO GIVE TO JESUS – OUR FAITH – HIS FAITH.”
But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out]. (Hebrews 11:6) “Now is the time to give Him what pleases Him so much – our FAITH.”
“We inherit His promises/provisions and by perseverance, patience and endurance we are refined as gold in the fire. In a crisis, the dross comes to the surface. We want this to happen.” It is a good thing as God reveals to us the things we need to repent of and get right with Him. We repent, surrender it all to Him anew, and He skims that dross off the surface of our hearts. He promises to make us more and more like Jesus as we do this.
“We must not let the enemy redefine our identity. We must realize we would not be tested if we didn’t have FAITH. We WILL BE TESTED IN OUR FAITH. When the LORD is connecting and teaching us something, we WILL BE TESTED, just as Adam and Eve were in the Garden…. ‘Hath God said?’”
“One of the hallmarks of good soil is PATIENCE.” And so it was that he [Abraham], having waited long and endured patiently, realized and obtained…. what God had promised him. (Hebrews 6:15)

“We start out IN FAITH. As we go through life and tests come, we don’t just believe, we KNOW. It’s a SETTLED THING IN CHRIST. The in-between times add virtue and character. Dross comes up and is burned away, and we become like Jesus. The goal is to be FORMED INTO THE IMAGE OF CHRIST. We move from FAITH to VIRTUE/CHARACTER to KNOWLEDGE, taking EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE INTO OBEDIENCE TO CHRIST.”
“Sometimes this is simple and sometimes there are strongholds in the mind which need to be dealt with. These patterns or ‘gutter balls’ play automatically when people are triggered. We must pay attention to the ‘tapes’ that play in our mind when this happens. They are similar to lines of code playing in an electronic ‘app’. When we’re triggered, the ‘app’ just automatically plays feelings of anger, fear, defensiveness, etc…. Sometimes, people need deeper healing because they’re living from strongholds, and they need to be restored by the renewing of their mind. These strongholds that trigger to these unhealthy tapes must be torn down.”
Grace started going to the Holy Spirit as her Counselor. “LORD, I JUST INVITE YOU INTO THIS. HOLY SPIRIT, COME AND BE MY COUNSELOR/COMFORTER. OPEN MY EARS TO START HEARING THE LIES/WHAT THEY SOUND LIKE.” We want anything in darkness to come into the light and lose power. A stronghold is simply a building built of lies. Search me [thoroughly], O God; and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:23-24)
Caroline Leaf shares, “Healthy and toxic thoughts are like trees. We have been designed as neuroplasticians. Tearing down strongholds is a process of destroying toxic trees. Victory comes from EXPOSING THE LIE and BRINGING TRUTH INTO THE LIE. Strongholds exist when memories associate with lies. The enemy seeks to create a pagan altar in your mind, for you to worship another god. God’s plan, in contrast, is for you to BE TRANSFORMED.”
“The Holy Spirit wants to partner with us.” For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds. (II Corinthians 10:4)
“What are the thoughts that start this? Be honest with God. He works with your honesty. He already knows. It has to do with your perceptions.”
Grace was astonished at God’s kindness in those moments, as she wrestled these things out. One day, not understanding, she shouted, “I hate You!” when talking to the LORD, and shortly after, the song ‘Reckless Love’ started playing. She sensed the LORD saying, “I’LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES….” He’s not threatened by our mess.
“Start to ‘hear the tapes’ and recognize any feelings of animosity toward the LORD. Talk with Him about it, ‘LORD, this feels really true for me right now. Is there some sort of memory attached to it? You were there, LORD. Please reinterpret this part of my story.’”
Lean on the Holy Spirit and pray about it. You can do this together with someone, as well. “Holy Spirit, we just invite YOU into this place of pain. Please help. This feels so real to me, but WHAT’S THE TRUTH MY HEART NEEDS TO KNOW?” Sometimes, God will give us a Scripture, a picture, or a word of knowledge to help.
Let us be WARNED…. “We should BE INTENTIONAL about this, but we must also BE WARY OF SELF-FOCUS or INTROSPECTION. We must FIX OUR EYES ON JESUS, INVITE HIM INTO EVERY SITUATION, THANK HIM FOR BEING OUR COUNSELOR, WORSHIP HIM, and LET HIM REVEAL TO US ANYTHING HE WANTS US TO KNOW.”

Hebrews 10:1-3 (Christ came to bring us back to the Garden, free from sin and sin-consciousness, restored naked and unashamed like Adam and Eve before the Fall.)
“Whatever we FOCUS on, we EMPOWER.” We are either FEASTING ON and PRODUCING good fruit or bad fruit.
Two things that produce BAD fruit are:
- Sin-consciousness and always looking for sin –
It’s the Holy Spirit’s job to convict us. We must let HIM do it.
- Looking at the devil and making him the problem –
The enemy tries to build roads in our mind whereby we habitually travel back and forth, back and forth. When he does this, he doesn’t need to use a demon for external oppression.
BUT – “In the book of Colossians, we read how the devil HAS BEEN DISARMED. This illustrates how in battle, the winning king would chop off his enemy’s thumbs and big toes. This renders the enemy INCAPABLE of holding a sword or keeping his balance. Through Christ, the devil has been DEFEATED and RENDERED POWERLESS. His only weapon now is DECEPTION.”
“When we read Paul’s letters, we see they were written to SAINTS. He NEVER said they had a demon. He called them back to THE GOSPEL and to BAPTISM. In baptism WE DIE WITH CHRIST. When we sense an attack, our answer is, ‘NO! I DIED! I HAVE RECEIVED A NEW HEART, A NEW SPIRIT, AND AM IN PERFECT COMMUNION WITH GOD AT ALL TIMES THROUGH JESUS CHRIST! I HAVE BEEN CIRCUMCISED TO THE OLD NATURE AND AM CHANGING THE CARNAL MIND TO LIVE FROM THE MIND OF CHRIST!’”
“If people have been told and believe a leavened, partial gospel, this is hindered. What was your faith when you were baptized (immersed in water)? Was it just a symbol? Or was it a DEATH/RENEWAL and SPIRITUAL REALITY (not just symbolic)?”
“Those who have been walking in a false/leavened/partial gospel sometimes need deliverance from demons. Ideally though, Paul ALWAYS brought people back to BAPTISM.” It is in repentance, baptism, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit where new life in Jesus Christ begins.
It is here we become a new creation and begin to walk in the Holy Spirit – by and in the faith of Jesus Christ – no longer by what we see, think or feel.
Testimonies:
“A man had been in an accident and had gotten his neck rebuilt with many metal parts. He had much pain, but after receiving prayer for healing, all the pain went away! Everything still looked the same on his x-rays. Nothing had changed externally, but he BELIEVED THE WORD OF GOD, and EXPERIENCED THE FRUIT!”
“Another man had no ear and no hearing on that side. After receiving prayer, his hearing returned completely, though he still had no ear!”
“A boy with Down Syndrome received prayer, and God restored him miraculously! His face still looked the same, but he was healed! They discovered later that the LORD had removed the chromosome affiliated with DS from every strand of his DNA!”
“These are signs and wonders worked by God’s hand today! He allows them as parables.” For the kingdom of God does not consist of talk but in power. (I Corinthians 4:20)
A man, testifying before the United Nations, shared how he’d had a massive heart attack while playing golf in Australia. He had died immediately. Forty-five minutes later, alone in the back of an ambulance, God miraculously brought him back to life! A year later, at a routine physical exam, his doctor excitedly stated, “You’ve got to come look at this!” The ‘heart disease gene’ was now missing from every single one of his cells!
“A lady had a lump in her breast. It looked a certain way to her and her husband. Her husband prayed, and they watched it change appearance as he prayed. She had a follow-up biopsy with bad results, but they chose to believe God, not receive the bad report. She was completely healed!”
Grace and Israel’s son fell and split his lip deeply. It was bleeding badly and he was in a lot of pain. Grace was at a loss, “LORD, I don’t know what to do!” “WORSHIP ME,” she sensed Him saying. They just put on some music and worshiped God. The bleeding completely stopped. Their son never cried about it after that. He fed himself normally as if there was no injury, and they watched God close up the split in his lip from the inside out! It healed so well, people inquired about it. Their response to the inquiries, “JESUS WAS THE SURGEON!”
“The world says ‘diversify’,” Grace shares, “BUT…. in the Kingdom of God, that is DOUBLE-MINDEDNESS, and if we perish, we perish.” For instance, Israel has dealt with a hernia, “but he just doesn’t give power to it.” Grace has also dealt with things, but their mindset is, “Who or what is our FAITH in – the manifestations or GOD?!”
“Isaiah 53, I Peter and Psalm 103 express our BENEFITS THROUGH CHRIST. He FORGIVES ALL and HEALS ALL.”
“The Bible says people’s love will grow cold because of FEAR. The opposite of fear is FAITH. Faith is a muscle which needs to be EXERCISED. It’s as if the LORD is saying, ‘ENGAGE WITH ME NOW (when things are easier), TO BE READY FOR LATER (when things get more difficult).’”
Colossians 2:8-10 reads, “See to it that no one carries you off as spoil or makes you yourselves captive by his so-called philosophy and intellectualism and vain deceit (idle fancies and plain nonsense), following human tradition (men’s ideas of the material rather than the spiritual world), just crude notions following the rudimentary and elemental teachings of the universe and disregarding [the teachings of] Christ (the Messiah). For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature]. And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power].”
“Don’t let ANYONE cheat you with the traditions of men because YOU ARE COMPLETE IN CHRIST. Let no one cheat you of your reward. HOLD FAST TO THE HEAD, JESUS CHRIST. If we died with Christ to the basic principles of this world – medicine, ‘get a job,’ etc… HE WILL SUPPLY ALL OUR NEEDS ACCORDING TO HIS RICHES (not ours)!”
We really need to grasp the truth that when Jesus said, “IT IS FINISHED!” on the cross, it really was. “This truth is for us and others to gain courage to launch out! As we walk completely by faith, trusting God for everything, we start seeing that it truly is ‘JESUS PLUS NOTHING!’ at new levels. To the extent that we truly TRUST HIM and RELY ON HIM with and for EVERYTHING, HE PROVIDES IN WAYS MORE ABOVE AND BEYOND than ever before!”
An Australian lady and her sterile husband simply believed God and got pregnant! They now counsel and encourage others to trust God in this way!
Grace and Israel “went to a conference with Reinhard Bonnke who was asked, ‘How do you have so many “God stories”?’ His reply, ‘Live in such a way that if God doesn’t come through for you, you’re in big trouble.’ THIS is where the MIRACLES/PROVISIONS OF GOD ARE.”
“The life of FAITH is a life of REPENTANCE (not looking for sin, but), a RENEWING OF THE MIND. If you run into something uncomfortable, God might be wanting to do something in that place. HUMILITY IS KEY. A broken and a contrite heart He will not despise. (Psalm 51:17b) Many times God deals with something in our life first, and then the provision is released.”
“In a Graham Cooke message, he explained the benefits of both HIDDENNESS and MANIFESTATION (of God’s provisions). It is in times of hiddenness (when we don’t see much happening) that the deepest work is happening in us. It is in times we see the manifestation of His provisions that we SET OUR MIND to trust Him and walk by faith. God is building in us PATIENCE, PERSEVERENCE, and ENDURANCE for us to learn to STAND, STAND, STAND = FAITH!”
Grace’s prayer:
“Dear LORD,
Thank You for making me good soil, and letting Your truths go in deep! Thank You Holy Spirit, for being my Help! Thank You Father God, that I am so not alone! Help me to be one with You by Your Spirit, apart from soulish emotions, and in spite of feelings! Thank You for being my wisdom! Thank You that when I stand before kings and rulers it will be given me what to say! Thank You for feeding me the words to say to my children and others! Thank You for wisdom in the moments, and more grace to live by and stay in Your Holy Spirit!
Please give my loved ones ears to hear, eyes to see, and a hunger to know You and know Your way. Father them, LORD! Take them up and father them where they have not been fathered. Author fresh faith in them! Thank You for stirring up in them that warrior spirit that is Your Holy Spirit, that they would be drafted into Your service, and engage in the warfare around them in the Holy Spirit and not the flesh! Give them wisdom and word pictures and parables that their heart can counsel with, that they can connect with! Convince them of the way of FAITH, and to put all their trust in You, Father. Purge them of all the traditions of men, that they may be rooted and grounded in Your unfailing love!
Thank You, Father for calling us to be people of faith, walking by faith. Thank You that Your sheep hear Your voice. Keep us out of our heads and strengthen us to take whatever next step You give us, LORD! Thank You that we don’t have to figure it out! Thank You that You’ll give us what we need to know for the next step after we take this first one! (Like a box of tissues – you pull one out and the next one shows up.)
